A simulated stone pen blank without the expensive price tag! Real powdered stone has been dyed and then combined with acrylic resins to make this stone look-alike. This blank has dramatic bands of purple, black and white. A good choice for the advanced turner.
Purple Ripple Faux-Stone Pen Blanks
Turning Tip: Faux stone is dense, so the tool needs to be sharp. It can be turned with a roughing gouge, skew, or carbide tools (please watch our video showing these tools in use). Because it is stone, it is porous, so you may want to complete with a thin CA finish (I recommend 2-3 coats of thin and one or two coats of the medium.) Once these have cured, sand with 600 grit and polish---you can achieve a high shine--Ed
Pen blanks are approx 3/4" sq x 5" long. Price is per each, the photo shows a representative sampling of the colors and swirling.
