Burmese teak for pen blanks has a beautiful color with straight to wavy grain. Its high natural oil content can dull your tools, so wipe the surface with a solvent before gluing or finishing. The end result is stunning.
Teak Pen Blanks
Sometimes referred to as Burmese teak, pen blanks made from this wood have a golden to medium brown color. The grain is straight to wavy, and the wood has a high natural oil content. While teak is beautiful to turn, it can have a blunting effect on tools. It glues and finishes nicely, though wiping with a solvent prior to gluing or finishing will aid adhesion.
Teak has been used extensively in India and within its natural range for centuries, and has grown into a worldwide favorite due to its superb stability, good strength properties, easy workability, and most importantly, its outstanding resistance to decay and rot. No wonder that teak ranks among the most desired timbers in the world.
The pen blanks measure 3/4" x 5".
