From Jeff Powell! A Sugar Skull (or Calavera) is a representation of human skull made from either sugar or clay, which is used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead and the Roman Catholic holiday All Souls/All Saints Day (Halloween). Day of the Dead is an interesting Mexican holiday which not only honors but celebrates the lives deceased loved ones. During this time it is believed that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31, and the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are first allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of the adults also come down to enjoy the elaborate festivities. The Day of the Dead is becoming quite a popular celebration across the border, in the US.

This amazing piece of workmanship involved many hours of design cutting on a CNC, including thousands of lines of code. Once cut, the upper blank was re cast, in resin. The matching blank for the other barrel has no image.

The blank will fit a mid size pen (Jr Gent II/Jr Statesman/Triton etc)  Because of the double casting and the intricate design, there is a chance of encountering a small bubble. If you do, it can easily be filled with some of the sanding dust and CA or epoxy.

Painted tubes/reverse painting is a must with this blank.
