The English Yew (Taxus baccatais a conifer tree native to the British Isles and Europe. The leaves, bark, and seeds of the yew were employed in olden days to make a poison. Today, the yew is used to produce Taxol, a cancer-fighting drug.

The English Elm (Ulmus procera) was once one of the most common of English trees, with large stands through the English countryside. The English Elm is thought to have been brought to the British Isles by the Romans, and it quickly spread through the island. This elm has been used throughout English history as wood for cabinetry and shipbuilding. In the Middle Ages hollowed out trunks of this tree were even used as water pipes! In more recent years, stands of the English Elm has declined due to the spread Dutch Elm disease, and mature trees are quite rare.

The English Elm has strong interlocking grain, a lovely goldish color and is resistant to splitting.length.

These English Elm tree blanks are 5/8" x 3/4 x 5" in length and come from trimmings from the gardens of the Queen's Estate.

    These are beautiful blanks! And they come individually labeled with a full length description of the history of the wood and where it comes from. Very cool! Also we love the little candy treats that come with each order. This company is awesome. They have a new customer for life. Ordered twice now and the item was shipped same day or next day.
