Red River Gum Burl Pen Blanks - 7/8"
Red River Gum Burl (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) is hard, heavy, and dense. Also known as Australian Murray Red River Resin Gum, the trees are usually found by flowing water. Colors of the burl range from rich reds in the heartwood to creamy white in the sapwood.
Red River Gum has resin pockets in the burl and will result in natural cracks and voids. This is normal for this species and can make some interesting pens. The voids can present a challenge when working but are well worth the effort when finished. You may fill the voids with sawdust and epoxy for a more natural look, or with colorful epoxy, or crushed Turquoise or other minerals to make a unique one-of-a-kind creation!
Pen Blanks come waxed and are non-stabilized. As with all burls, there may be small voids. This can be filled with a mix of sawdust and epoxy, colored epoxy, or powdered gemstones found on our site
Pen Blanks are approx. 7/8" square x 5 1/4" long and are priced per each. Photos show a multiple blanks to illustrate the range of colors and figure.
