Out of Africa Rotacrylic Pen Blanks

Nobel, intelligent, and sentient, the African Elephant is the largest land animal on Earth. To celebrate him, Jeff has drawn a single elephant trumpeting with an upturned trunk and set him in a lush swirling mix of two-tone green resins.

This amazing piece of workmanship involved many hours of design cutting on a CNC, includingthousands of lines of code. Once cut, the upper blank was re-cast, in resin. The matching blank for the other barrel has no image.

The pen blank will fit a mid-size pen (Jr Gent II/Jr Statesman/Triton etc).  Because of the double casting and the intricate design, there is a chance of encountering a small bubble. If you do, it can easily be filled with some of the white sanding dust and CA or epoxy. These pen blanks have been precision cut on a computer-controlled multi-axis CNC. The image depth on the blank does not vary. But you need to drill straight and in the center of the blank (there are two pilot holes started for you) or the image on the blank will be off-center and will turn away as you turn the blank down. Please refer to the provided instructions.

Painted tubes are recommended.

Made one of these as a Christmas gift for an elephant lover. Assembled it into a Jr. Gent ballpoint kit and it looks great! It was much easier to work with than I originally thought. Although I like working with plastics and resins, I sometimes have mixed results causing me to hone my technique along the way. I like the heft of the Jr. Style pen and the machinability of this material so I will definitely be making one of these for myself in the future. Most likely scuba related!
