Navy Rotacrylic Pen Blank.

This is one in a series of pen blanks to celebrate all those that served the US armed forces. This one is for The US Navy. The blank is made from a base of a hand poured royal pearl blue alumilite resin, and due to the image wrap, we recommend this blank for a larger size pen.

This amazing piece of workmanship involved many hours of design cutting on a CNC, including thousands of lines of code. Once cut, the upper pen blank was recast, in white resin. The matching blank for the other barrel has no image.

The blank is recommended for a larger size pen kit. Because of the double casting and the intricate design, there is a chance of encountering a small bubble. If you do, it can easily be filled with some of the white sanding dust and CA or epoxy. Painted tubes and drilling on the lathe are both recommended.

Can this blank be used with the Knurl GT pens that are on sale this week? I am worried about turning through the US Navy emblem.

If you drill on center and you leave at least .6", all of the rotocrylics will yield a full pattern. If the diameter is smaller, you MAY remove some of the detail. Exercise care!!
