Malachite Faux-Stone Pen Blanks
A simulated stone pen blank without the expensive price tag! Real powdered stone has been dyed and then combined with acrylic resins to make this stone look alike. This opaque green stone blank is accented with black accents. A good choice for the advanced turner. The greens in this blank can vary from dark Christmas green to a slightly paler green.
Turning Tip: Faux stone is dense, so the tool needs to be sharp. It can be turned with a roughing gouge, skew, or carbide tools (please watch our video showing these tools in use). Because it is stone, it is porous, so you may want to complete it with a thin CA finish (I recommend 2-3 coats of thin and one or two coats of medium.)
