Create a dazzling pen with this durable and an extremely elegant pen blank made of high-grade Kirinite acrylic.

Includes one of each color pen blank; Dark Night, Gold, Midnight Blue, Purple, Red and Silver.

Kirinite was specially created to be hard wearing and very durable. Kirinite is often found being used in high end knife handles, handgun grips and of course in pen making! Yet Kirinite is very easy to turn with standard woodturning tools and finishes to a stunning, glossy mirror finish.

I purchased the glitter assortment along with some glitter individuals for pen/pencil sets. The glitter is very bright on the glossy top and bottom surfaces of the blank, but impossible to tell on the expectedly rough sawn surfaces. However, after turning and polishing, the glitter remains bright on two sides and very much less bright at 90 degrees from those orientations giving the finished pen turning a banded look. In addition, the midnight blue color did not finish smoothly due to small voids where the glitter particles intersect with the finished surface, marring the final finish which was done via Micromesh and Dr. Kirks. Diamond Cast round blanks give uniform glitter and the polished surface I was hoping for form these Kirinite blanks.
