This Irish Bog Oak comes from the bogs of the Midlands area of the Emerald Isle. Generally speaking, Irish Bog Oak (IBO) can range from 3000 to 5000 years in age. The color is often considered an visual aid in determining of the age of bog wood. As the longer the oak is submerged in the bog, the more tannins it absorbs. The more tannin, the darker the color of the bog oak. Over the centuries IBO has been highly valued and treasured. But it is a finite resource and these days and logs have become a much rarer find.

  • These Irish Bog Oak blanks are sold per each. They are at least .8" square  x 6" in length.
  • The blanks are fully dry and ready to turn and come with a COA
  • Imported from Ireland.

What's so wonderful about Irish bog-oak? Why is so valued? It is it's history, it's connection to the earth. It is it's blackness. It's hardness. It's age.... It's mystery. It is truly and simply...... black magic.

Hi Wade. No, not stabilized. There is really no need for them to be stabilized. The blanks very dense, hard and solid.
