Hydra Rotacrylic Pen Blank.
One for the fantasy and mythology buffs! The Hydra of Lerna, which became immortalized during the second of the Twelve Labours of Hercules. Offspring of Typhon and Echidna, this gigantic, nine-headed water-serpent, haunted the swamps of Lerna and terrorized the surrounding villages. As Hercules battled and decapitated each of the Hydra's heads, two more sprang forth in the one's place. With the help of Iolaos, he applied burning brands to each severed area, cauterizing the wounds and preventing regeneration. In the battle, Hercules also crushed a giant crab beneath his heel which had been sent to assist the Hydra. The Hydra and the Crab were later placed amongst the stars by Hera, the wife of Zeus. Now imortalized, we can see them every evening in the night sky.... burning brightly as the Constellations Hydra and Cancer.
This amazing piece of workmanship involved many hours of design cutting on a CNC, including thousands of lines of code. Once cut, the upper blank was re-cast. The matching blank for the other barrel has no image.
The blank will fit a mid-size pen (Jr Gent II/Jr Statesman/Triton etc) Because of the double casting and the intricate design, there is a chance of encountering a small bubble. If you do, it can easily be filled with some of the sanding dust and CA or epoxy. Painted tubes are recommended.
