Craft Coat is a waterborne linseed oil modified wood finish that self-crosslinks when exposed to oxygen to develop an extremely durable film that exhibits outstanding scratch, mar, water, and chemical resistance. It has the depth and gloss of an oil modified urethane (O.M.U.) and is formulated to ensure maximum protection on any type of wood, especially hard-to-coat dense and oily exotic hardwoods.  It exhibits excellent adhesion on all types of wood including exotic and naturally oily woods that typically require preparation before coating.  Craft Coat does not have a solvent base so it dries very quickly and is sandable in 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

I rarely write reviews but there is little info out there on this product and you should be warned. This is not for medium or large projects. I can't speak to it's use for turning pens but for anything larger, it streaks, even if dipped. And that would be ok except it can't be rubbed out, even with 800 grit wet sanding or soap or oil 0000 steel wool as either will scratch it. Maybe a sanding polish might work but that would take forever to remove the microbubbles and dust etc. Buffed on or friction polished? only for the smallest of projects as it dries so fast the the buffing pad or paper towel hardens and, you guessed it, scratches the finish. Very frustrated as I am in the middle of sanding off 3 coats I had applied in trying to fix the above only to discover it's inability to be rubbed out. As all my test pieces were small scraps, was not obvious until used on bigger pieces. No product support. 2 stars because I'm trying to support Low-VOC products. But this was a big mistake.
