Please note: These blanks come cast in clear polyester resin. As with all polyester casting resin, there may be some exterior "stickiness" of the unturned blank. This is normal for PR and will turn off. It will not affect the turning or the finished blank. These blanks will require sharp tools and a light touch and are suggested for experienced turners.  Please inspect the blank for cracks or other problems before starting to turn. We apologize, but blanks that are "blown up" are not returnable.

As with most "tube-on' casts, we do not recommend using a pen mill. You can see how to "face" using sandpaper in our "how-to video"  by clicking here.

One upper and one lower blank in a set - sold per set.

Mike's review has been here since September. We were not aware of it until today (1-10-16). So I investigated our inventory and found that Mike was entirely correct.

A small number of the blanks had tubes that were too short and a couple were, indeed cracked. We will be sending replacements to Mike, with our sincere apologies. In addition, now all reviews will be sent to Dawn and me, so we can be certain to reply.

The only other comment I can make is that it is not unusual to have some resin inside the tubes on cast blanks. If you attempt to insert the bushings and have difficulty, clean the tubes now, before trying to insert the fittings and crack the blank. This is normal for "cast on tube" blanks. I have purchased several small knives (designed to look like a key) from Harbor Freight. They fit inside nearly all brass tubes.

Again, our apologies that this has remained unread for so long!! Systems have been put in place to keep it from happening again!!

what is the diameter of the tube in mm?

Long tube - Outside diameter 9.8mm. Length 52.5mm
Short tube - Outside diameter 9.8mm. Length 48.5mm

To convert any inch measurement to mm multiply the inch value by 25.4

What are the lengths of each blank in the set?

    Hi Bryan,

These blanks have a Cigar pen tube embedded in the center of the casting.

So the length of the blanks is the same as cigar tubes, plus a smidge for a little excess resin at the end.....ie approx 1.94-1.96 and 2.09-2.11

I hope that helps! ~ Dawn
