This pen blank is made with Awabi Shell. Awabi shell is a different species of Abalone. It provides a mother of pearl look to it that is really beautiful. Awabi is also sometimes used to make buttons and jewelry because of its beautiful iridescence. The Awabi shell is cut into thin strips, then ever so delicately each strip is meticulously hand-applied onto the pen tube. It is then cast in clear polyester resin to enhance and protect its beauty.
This pen blank comes tubed to fit the Sierra twist, Virage Twist, Thank you, Diamond Knurl, Ellipse, Awareness, Gatsby Twist etc. group of pen kits. As with all polyester resins, sharp tools are a must.  (Pen Kits are available separately).Â
 Each one of the paua shell pen blanks is artfully and meticulously made by hand by Ron in his studio.Â
