These beautiful and elegant looking burls, are all from reclaimed timber from Alaska's picturesque Matanuska Valley. They have been cut and hand selected by Rick. Beautiful blanks, the photos do not do these blanks justice!

Alaska Birch (Betula neoalaskana) is a species of birch native to Alaska and northern Canada. Its range covers most of interior Alaska, parts of western Ontario and into the Northwest Territories of Canada.

This tree typically grows to 15-20 m tall and grows in a variety of habitats, from wetlands to ridge tops. The wood is fine-grained and a pale golden in colour. It is easy to work and takes a finish well. Many of the pieces exhibit a satiny chatoyancy and curl across the grain lines of the burl. they shimmer from many different directions as you rotate the blank in your hand.There are occasional eyes, and some pieces are dramatically spalted.
