    Just ordered the 12 pen package with the chrome, 24k gold and gun metal trim. I just turned a pen and tried to assemble the pen. Tried to insert the twist transmission according to the instructions. Pressed it in to the line only to find the pen tip barely extended past the nib. Found that the sleeve of the transmission was slipping over the internal parts which meant the transmission wasn't getting inserted properly to the line. Needles to say, the transmission ended up breaking so I have a useless kit and a wasted pen blank.

    Does the kit include a refill? Or is it an additional purchase?

    Yep, the kits include a refill. Upgrade refills are for an additional/higher quality one (in addition to the one in the kit)
