Postage Stamp Pen Blanks by Mike & Bailey

Hi, I’m Mike and I have been turning pens for almost 20 years. My family lives in the foothills of the Ozarks. I had an idea for a specific kind of blank that I wanted to make and my teenage daughter has TAKEN OVER MY STUDIO – and my idea!!!!!!!

We cast postage stamps (mostly comic strips, iconic and fun characters from your past) in water clear acrylic. Bailey has a very keen eye for quality, however, as she is new to this hobby, I have the final say on what leaves our studio. I am extremely particular and a stickler for details… My wife has other words for it, but 23 years of marriage earns a certain – shall we say, “lack of diplomacy”!!!!

Bailey is incredibly resourceful and it took us over 4 months to work through this process. Not to worry, because we found a way to deliver an incredibly fun pen blank at a very good value. We strive to keep our costs low, in order to deliver incredible quality and value to our clients.

Our price points reflect the scarcity of certain postage stamps. Rare stamps will be at a higher price point than commonly found stamps. Whether you are purchasing a Beetle Bailey from your fond childhood memories, Mickey/Minnie Mouse for your granddaughter or Jimi Hendrix/Janis Joplin from your younger days, these are nostalgic blanks that will bring a smile for many, many years to come.

Please browse all of Bailey’s pen blanks. We are grateful for your purchase!!

Cheers!!

Nostalgic Postage Stamp Blanks Sunday Funnies - Sierra/Virage #28

Postage stamps are no longer just portraits of dead presidents!!!

With the many, varied collector series of stamps, a new avenue has opened for pen blank production.  Now, Bailey (a teenage young lady) has selected the stamps she and her dad, Mike like.  We think you and your pen customers will like them too.

This is one of the classic newspaper "comics" series of stamps--featuring "Beetle Bailey", the title character and his friends--most prominent of whom is Sargeant Snorkel.  Like many "comic strip" worlds, Beetle Bailey remains unchanged.  The uniforms are vintage, Beetle's helmet has continuously covered his eyes, they are never actually engaged in combat.

Originated in Sept, 1950 by Mort Walker, Beetle Bailey is among the oldest comic strips continuously produced by the same creator.

In short, due to the wide distribution of the comic strip, and the humorous military theme, there should be a good reception to the pen.

This genuine US postage stamp, cast in crystal clear Alumilite resin. It comes tubed, and will fit the Sierra Twist Family of pen kits.

In 1951, Hank Ketchum launched the "Dennis the Menace" comic strip in 16 newspapers.  Dennis has been "five an a haf" years old, ever since!  The comic strip has been adapted to television shows and feature films.  It is published in over 1000 newspapers, in 48 countries and 19 languages.  Certainly, this is one successful story!

Interestingly, Mr Ketchum's son was Dennis, his wife, Alice--just as they are in the comic strip.  Mr. Wilson is said to be named after a teacher the writer knew.

In short, due to the wide distribution of the comic strip, there should be a good reception to the pen.
