Electra Rollerball Pen Kit - Gold & Chrome

I also like this pen kit very much. As designed, the barrel blank is not quite a perfect cylinder (the two bushings have slightly different diameters). But I turn the blank to a perfect cylinder (diameter of the biggest bushing) and everything looks just fine. As noted by the previous reviewer, the cap parts need to be carefully aligned to give a pleasing appearance. In fact, there is more to it than he noted: the filial pattern should be aligned to the pattern on the facetted gold ring, which should be aligned with the clip, which eventually should be aligned with the pattern on the chrome cap cylinder. Accomplishing all this while you are pressing the parts together in a pen press can be rather tricky. I find that it helps to carefully pre-glue the aligned filial and facetted gold ring to each other before pressing the 5 cap end parts together (see the assembly diagram).

Not sure why this pen hasn't been reviewed, but here is my 2 cents.

I consider this pen one of the nicest kit pens out there that isn't hard to build and really shows off a nice blank. The components are nice and the fit is excellent. Watch the clip when assembling in relation to the finial. You want to either line it up with the celtic knot at the "cross" or on the "X". If you don't, then it looks a little haphazard. So pay attention to that little detail. The length of the blank may be more difficult for those with a small DP but don't let that stop you as there are easy "ways" around that little problem.

Every one these pens that I've made have been absolutely loved by their owners.
